Artistic Director Mark Ball announces more commissions for LIFT 2016 than ever before with three world and ten UK premieres to be staged during the 4 week festival, including work from 14 countries (Argentina, Belgium, Greece, Poland, Canada, Japan, Australia, the USA, Lebanon, Syria…).

Taylor Mac kicks off the festival with his UK premiere at Hackney Empire on 1 June, meet wild Japanese pop fans with pop-idol Toco Nikaido’s Miss Revolutionary Idol Berseker and Argentinian artist Lola Arias brings together Argentinian and British Falklands war veterans in Minefield.

Depart from acclaimed Australian company Circa sees circus artists take over Tower Hamlets cemetery park, Neil Bartlett’s new work tells the story of a Victorian cross dressing artist in Stella and The Children’s Choice Awards appoints school children from Tottenham as the official festival jury.
