The Corner Shop is an Arts PR agency based in Covent Garden which works mainly, although not exclusively, with theatre, opera and dance clients in London and around the country. It is a busy, creative environment throughout the year. The Directors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and capable Press Assistant to administer the company’s media monitoring service and support the Publicists in their work with a wide variety of clients.

The Candidate:

  • Has a good understanding of, and a keen interest in, the media and journalism
  • Is confident and can make decisions
  • Has experience of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines
  • Is passionate about theatre and the arts
  • Has some experience in an administrative / supportive role
  • Is a good listener
  • Is a fast learner
  • Is able to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Is a regular consumer of a variety of newspapers, websites, blogs, radio and television
  • Is knowledgeable about, and an active member of, various social media channels
  • Pays close attention to detail and is extremely organised and efficient
  • Is an excellent communicator, verbally and in writing
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office

The Role includes/requires: 

  • Print and broadcast media administration including the monitoring, summarising, storing and distribution of coverage
  • Online and social media monitoring and link distribution
  • Using Trend Kite and Google to search for coverage
  • Updating campaign documents
  • Press event support
  • Attendance at press nights as required
  • Manage archiving of all digital files and printed media

Remuneration, benefits and holiday entitlement:

  • 12 month contract, starting as soon as possible
  • Salary: London Living Wage, paid monthly
  • Working hours: 9.30am to 6pm – occasional evening and weekend work required
  • 20 days holiday annually + public holidays + office closures
  • Responsible to a Senior Publicist and Managing Director
  • 3 month probationary period, during which the notice period is two weeks
  • After three month review the notice period is one month
  • This is a fixed term 12 month contract
