The Corner Shop Scotland is an arts PR agency based in Leith in Edinburgh which works mainly, although not exclusively, with arts organisations in Edinburgh and around the country. We are looking to appoint a creative and highly organised individual to assist in the smooth running of media campaigns during Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019 working in the Press Office for Underbelly, one of the biggest Fringe venues with a 20-years long history.

Job Description: Festival Press Assistant (cuttings and social media)
3 positions

The Candidate:

  • Is passionate about arts
  • Pays close attention to detail and is extremely organised
  • Has an energetically positive attitude
  • Has initiative, self-motivation and can work independently
  • Has the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Is reliable and professional at all times
  • Is a proficient user of social media platforms, mainly Twitter and Facebook

The Role includes/requires: 

  • Daily collecting and going through newspapers, broadcast and websites
  • Responding to inquiries on social media in a polite and professional manner
  • Maintaining media monitoring systems online and offline
  • Liaising with marketing on updating of press boards and posters with reviews and stars
  • Responding to press and company enquiries
  • Managing daily email updates to Underbelly team with press highlights and reviews
  • Office duties including answering the phones, post, couriers, stationery, filing systems and equipment maintenance
  • Assisting with other areas of Press Office work such as processing press tickets if required
  • Some flexibility due to the nature of the work

Remuneration and benefits:

  • Fixed term contract from Tuesday 30 July to Tuesday 27 August 2019
  • Contract fee is £2,000
  • Working hours: 8.00am to 4.30pm 6 days a week.

Job Description: Festival Press Assistant (ticketing and reception)

The Candidate:

  • Is passionate about arts
  • Pays close attention to detail and is extremely organised.
  • Is an excellent communicator, verbally and in writing
  • Has an energetically positive attitude and remains calm under pressure
  • Has initiative, self-motivation and can work independently
  • Has the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Is reliable and professional at all times

The Role includes/requires: 

  • Dealing with requests for press tickets, images, footage and press information over phone, email and in person
  • Processing press tickets using VIA ticketing system
  • Maintaining the company mailing lists and databases
  • Responding to press and company enquiries
  • Office duties including answering the phones, post, couriers, stationery, filing systems and equipment maintenance
  • Assisting with other areas of Press Office work such as media monitoring or populating press boards if required
  • Some flexibility due to the nature of the work

Remuneration and benefits:

  • Fixed term contract from Tuesday 30 July to Tuesday 27 August 2019
  • Contract fee is £2,000
  • Working hours: 10.00am to 6.30pm or 11.30am to 8pm across a flexible 6-day week.

  • Responsible to the Press Office Manager
