The Corner Shop is an Arts PR agency based in Covent Garden which works mainly, although not exclusively, with theatre, dance and opera clients in London and around the country.  It is a busy, creative environment throughout the year. The Directors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and capable Press Assistant to support the Publicists in their work with a wide variety of clients.

The Candidate:

  • Has some understanding of, and interest in, the media and journalism. This includes digital and new media, social influencers and the evolving PR landscape
  • Is passionate about theatre
  • Is confident and can make decisions
  • Has some experience in an administrative / supportive role
  • Is a good listener
  • Is a fast learner
  • Can multi-task and is confident in working across multiple projects with urgent deadlines
  • Pays close attention to detail and is extremely organised
  • Is an excellent communicator, verbally and in writing
  • Understands how social media works and is confident in managing accounts and creating content
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Has some experience of database management

The Role includes/requires: 

  • Maintenance of campaign documents, updates and reports
  • Maintaining project details on The Corner Shop’s Website
  • Scheduling, posting and sharing content on The Corner Shop’s Twitter and Instagram
  • Participating in Press Team and Press Assistant meetings
  • Attendance at Press Nights and events as required
  • Supporting the press campaign work undertaken by the relevant Publicist and the Directors
  • Building and maintaining relationships and contact with media, influencers, clients, associates and suppliers
  • Administration of press night tickets and house seat bookings
  • Dealing with requests for images, footage and press information
  • Preview and Book Now pitching
  • Answering the phones, taking messages and redirecting calls as necessary

Remuneration, benefits and holiday entitlement:

  • Initial 12 month contract (3 month probation period)
  • Salary: London Living Wage, paid monthly
  • Working hours: 9.30am to 6pm – occasional evening and weekend work required
  • 20 days holiday annually + public holidays + office closures + approved time-off in lieu
  • Responsible to the appointed Publicist and the Directors
